Nick Buffie is an economic policy analyst specializing in energy tax policy. He currently works at the Congressional Research Service and has previously worked at various DC-based economic think tanks. He holds masters degrees from Johns Hopkins and Harvard and a BA from Wesleyan University, and his work has been cited in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Meet the Press, National Public Radio, and other nationally syndicated news outlets.
Alex Muresianu is a Senior Policy Analyst at the Tax Foundation, focused on federal tax policy. He started full-time at Tax Foundation in 2021 after stints as a federal intern in the summer of 2018 and as a research assistant in summer 2020.
His work has focused on corporate tax, energy and environmental tax, and tax compliance issues. He has been quoted in major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, and he has appeared on national radio shows like NPR’s Marketplace to provide expert analysis.
Lesley Hunter is ACORE’s Senior Vice President of Policy and Engagement, overseeing the organization’s policy work, including government and regulatory affairs and related member activities. Lesley also leads the development of educational resources and analysis on clean energy for policymaker and business audiences.
Lesley has over 15 years of experience in clean energy, leading prominent coalitions on tax equity, financial policies, corporate sustainability, and national security. She is the author of numerous publications and is a frequent commentator on these issues.
She is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego, where she studied international relations, anthropology, and history.
Shuting Pomerleau is the Director of Energy and Environmental Policy at the American Action Forum.
Shuting’s work focuses on energy and environmental policy analysis. Research topics include carbon border adjustments, carbon taxation, climate and trade, the latest developments in energy markets, and electricity markets. Her work has been featured in a wide range of outlets including Bloomberg, Financial Times, and TIME. She has also spoken at many public conferences and events.
Prior to joining AAF, Shuting served as the Deputy Director of Climate Policy at the Niskanen Center working on market-based climate change mitigation policies. Previously, she was a business strategy consultant working with senior executives of multinational corporations to advise their business strategies for U.S. and international markets.
Shuting holds a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University.
