Thursday, November 19 Keynote | Iván Werning

Iván Werning is an Argentinian economist with research focus in public finance and macroeconomics. He is the Robert M. Solow Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has been since earning his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2002.  He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellow of the Econometric Society, and a Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. 

 

 

Friday, November 20 Keynote | Stefanie Stantcheva

Stefanie Stantcheva is an economist studying the taxation of firms and individuals using models and data. She explores the long-run effects of taxes on innovation, education & training, and wealth and how we can design the tax system to foster innovation. She also runs large-scale “Social Economics Surveys and experiments” to explore the determinants of our social preferences, attitudes, and perceptions.

Stefanie is a professor of Economics at Harvard University. Since May 2018, she has been a member of the French Council of Economic Advisers (Conseil d’Analyse Economique). Since January 2020, she is a co-editor at the Quarterly Journal of Economics.

She received her Ph.D. in Economics from MIT in 2014 and was a junior fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows 2014-2016 before joining the Harvard Department of Economics in July 2016.
