The Editors of the National Tax Journal (NTJ) are excited to continue our webinar series that periodically features some of the NTJ’s recently published articles. Our next webinar will comprise three papers from the Forum of the September 2026 issue.

The United States occupies a unique position within the global financial system. Not only does the US borrow in its own currency, but the US dollar is also the world’s primary reserve currency. While these features have given the US exceptional fiscal leeway, they have also given rise to important and complex questions: How large a deficit can the US government run, for how long, and at what cost?
