The 109th Annual Conference on Taxation will cover a broad range of topics including, but not limited to, taxation and tax policies; expenditure policies; government budgeting; intergovernmental relations; and subnational, national, and international public finance. The conference will focus, as always, on policy-relevant research bearing on taxation and government spending. We are pleased to announce that Olivier Blanchard (C. Fred Bergsten Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and Robert M. Solow Professor of Economics emeritus, MIT) and Antonio Weiss (Counselor to the Secretary, U.S. Department of the Treasury) will be our luncheon keynote speakers. The Saturday afternoon short course sponsored by the University of Michigan Office of Tax Policy Research will be presented by Robert Moffitt (Krieger-Eisenhower Professor of Economics, Johns Hopkins University) and will focus on recent research in the distributional and tax rate structure of the U.S. Welfare System.
